Everybody wants a clear glowing face. A lot of us go to beauty salons and spas for beauty treatments, where we need to invest some amount of money. Here is the economical yet effective way of doing a simple basic facial at home.
The facial involves 5 steps – Cleansing, exfoliating, steaming, masking, moisturizing.
Before we pamper our skin with the treatment, we need to remove all the makeup and dirt from our face. Remove your makeup if any. Wash your skin with a face wash or cleanse it with a cleanser suited to your skin type. You can use gram flour powder to wash your face as a natural alternative. Just mix a little amount of gram flour powder with water to form a paste-like consistency and gently rub it over your face to cleanse.
Skin regenerates regularly by producing new skin cells and shedding old dead cells. These dead cells if not taken proper care, might clog the pores of the skin and cause acne. So it is necessary to remove dead cells from our skin through exfoliation. For the exfoliating scrub, mix regular table salt with coconut oil or any other oil in the ratio 1:2 or 1:3. Take this mixture in hands and gently massage on the face for 2 minutes. You can even use sugar instead of salt. But since sugar is coarser than salt, this sugar scrub is a bit harsh on the skin. Sugar scrub is good for areas like armpits and soles of the feet.
After exfoliating your face. Gently wash your face with just water. Take a little amount of coconut oil and massage on your face for 1 minute. Then take facial steam for about 3 to 5 minutes, until you start sweating in your face. This helps to open up the pores and removes any dirt from pores of your skin. Then splash your face with cold water to close the pores. Then wash it with face wash or gram flour.
This step helps in tightening your skin and closing the opened skin pores. Recipes for mask are-
b) wheat flour + milk
C) gram flour + milk
We can also add turmeric to the above recipes for extra glow
Apply mask all over the face except on the eye. You can keep cucumber slices on your eyes to relax your eyes and prevent dark circles. Leave the mask for 15 to 20 minutes and wash it off later.
This step is very important to maintain healthy, supple facial skin and to prevent acne. After washing your face to remove the mask, pat your face dry with a towel. Apply any moisturizer suitable for your skin type. You can use aloe vera gel in little amount as a natural alternative for commercial moisturizer.
And you are good to go. This whole facial will take around 30 – 40 minutes. You can do facial once in a week or once in two weeks. Don’t do it more than once in a week, because exfoliating very frequently causes our skin to become thinner. We don’t want to be losing our normal healthy cells of the facial skin.
Have fun. Pamper yourself. Love yourself.
