In India, we give importance to six taste in our food. They are sweet, sour, salty, astringent, bitter and pungent. As per Ayurveda, the combination of these taste boosts once immunity and keeps the body healthy. Excess intake of single taste is not good. During lunch time, if it is Indian meal one can see various types of curries, sweet items along rice or with chapati. In that case, sweet food has to be taken at the beginning of the meal, in the middle sour and salty foods has to be taken. The rest of the taste at the end.It is because the sweet taste taken in the end delays digestion. It is better to take less food if a person is suffering from indigestion or if he is suffering from a disease.

Taking food sitting in floor with legs folded helps one eat in right quantity. Morning one has to eat more than afternoon and night less food has to be taken. Eating in between, before the previous food gets digested will lead to several health problems.
